I'm putting on my armchair economist's hat today. When you refer to armchair variety economists do you mean analysts like Hayek, Mises, Fergusen and others? Undercover Economist is definitely a good read - really enjoyed that one myself - I would suggest checkin' out "Armchair Economics" if you get a chance. But then Sargent and Sims are among the most difficult to read of contemporary economists, and the most difficult to explain in the everyday language (and depth of field) of newspapers. Steven Landsburg's book seems to be the first of the recent wave of popular “think like an economist about subjects not traditionally thought of as economics” books. I recently read the first of this style of popular economics books, Steven Landsberg's The Armchair Economist: economics and everyday life, originally published in 1993. Some of the book was interesting; some baffling.
